1,415 6:41 pm PDT, May 24   sarah gordon mt baldy United States As a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife and someone who cares about sound wildlife management, I strongly urge you to withdraw your support for the use of aircraft to hunt and kill Alaska's wolves and bears. Alaska is well known for its amazing wildlife and stunning natural beauty. It is appalling that your office and others in the state government continue to sanction the brutal aerial hunting of the state's majestic wolves and bears in nearly 60,000 square miles of the state. As I am sure you are aware, aerial hunting was outlawed by the federal government in 1972. Yet Alaska officials continue to skirt the law and permit aerial hunting, claiming that this terrible practice is necessary for wildlife management an assertion that is not supported by available data on wildlife population numbers. This unwarranted program often leads to inhumane deaths, with hunters in low-flying aircraft shooting down wolves or chasing them to exhaustion, and landing and killing the animal at close range. In some cases, wounded wolves escape, only to experience a slow, painful death. This program is an embarrassment to the State of Alaska, and it is past time that state officials put an end to this brutal and unnecessary program. The people that go hunting do not have any beauty or dignity and are the small minority of inapropriate old people that do this are ruining our peace of mind for the rest of the world. Thank you for considering my comments.
1,414 9:04 pm PDT, May 21 Ms. Maria Troutman Honolulu United States So called hunters like these people have no right to take an animal's life for the sole purpose of having parts of their bodies on their trophy wall. We the people are watching and we will not relent until this cruel sport is banned for good!
1,413 3:56 pm PDT, May 18   cathy pelletier juneau United States Who gives anyone the right to take the life of a fellow creature without the purpose of consuming this creature. Just for fun? Go to hell.

They belong here just as anyother animal. We have to many humans too including some horrible ones, should we just shoot them for fun also?
1,409 5:14 am PDT, Apr 22 Ms. Emily Minnick Blue Grass United States Trophy hunting is wrong. Animals are worth much more than just a trophy on the shelf or a pelt on the wall!

1,399 7:38 pm PST, Jan 27   Anonymous auburn United States hunting animals for the fun of it and for the sake of having a trophy is sickening. Trophy hunting should be outlawed nation wide. If you want to kill an animal utilize all of the speices in a humane way. do not kill for the sake of killing. these are inocent creatures that are unable to defend themselves against a gun. We are already invading and destroying their habitats, there is no need to kill them off for the fun of killing.
1,398 4:18 pm PST, Dec 26 Ms. arielle mattes santa Fe United States Sara Palin is premoting the barberic slaughter of wolves. $150 for every severed leg of the poor wolf. 800 wolves were killed last year. Just because the wolf isn't on the endangered species list doesn't mean we can slaughter them. IF WE DON'T STOP HUNTING THE WOLF NOW, THEY WILL BECOME EXTINCT, STOP!!!!!!!!
1,396 1:46 pm PST, Dec 24   Dave Cannon Plains United States
1,395 10:23 am PST, Dec 17   Lieselotte Peperstraete België Belgium I hate that people kill wolves or other animals! why? why are they doing it?! for fun? to show what they can? They should only imagine how it would be if they were a wolf, be imprisoned, beaten and finally die of pain, exhaustion, grief ... protect these animals and let them free, their own good life! Protect them and their field! Take them not caught, they are not dead, but let them free and protect them!
1,394 11:54 pm PST, Dec 1 Mrs. Anonymous North Bend United States
1,393 12:45 pm PST, Nov 28   Anonymous Earth United States Wolves are magnificent creatures that do not deserve slaughter. They keep other populations in control, healthy, and STRONG- like moose, caribou, etc. They bring in a lot of tourism. They are not that different from ourselves. They lie down their lives for their pack members, much like many of us would do for their family. They work as a team as we are always encouraging our children to do. They mourn, celebrate, and feel every emotion we do. The real difference? They can live in harmony with the world around them- a feat humanity hasn't been able to claim in thousands of years. Call it hunting. Call it whatever you want. But there's only one true word for what it really is- murder. That's what killing becomes when you stop killing because you need to, but because you want to. If you're going to kill, at least have the respect and dignity to call it what it actually is.
1,392 9:55 am PST, Nov 13 Ms. Ausha Sterlitz Bealeton United States I just have one question for you. Why do you hunt them? Is is overpopulation? Well humans are overpopulated, so do we start killing humans to thin the species out? Is it that they hunt excessivly? Again humans do that too, like what you're doing, hunting for 'prize trophies'. Wolves hunt to eat, wolf hunters hunt the wolf because they feel threatened, because they feel it's their 'duty' as American citizens to protect the country because they are overpowered with greed and have a desire to 'tame' and 'break' and 'dominate' the wild. If you do that, then it's not the wild is it? It's a bunch of trees with the wind blowing through them and no calls to fill the empty void called night. It's not a sport, it's an injustice. "Walk yourself in your enemies shoes for a mile, then judge them." I know that i would love to have nothing more to do than eat, sleep and play all day. No taxes, no money to worry about, no debt, no anything and I'm pretty sure you would too. So i ask you again. Why do you hunt wolves?
1,391 2:57 pm PST, Nov 11   Anonymous muskegon United States I absolutely LOVE wolves. the slaughter is cruel and needs to be stopped!
1,390 3:41 pm PST, Nov 4 Ms. Allysin Burroughs The Woodlands United States I love wolves and wild life so much and it TRULY is upsetting to me why ignorant people have to go and kill innocent creatures.

1,388 11:29 am PDT, Oct 13   Wendy Schrievers Germany Germany
1,387 7:38 pm PDT, Oct 11 Ms. Brittany Pettigrew Port Alberni Canada I think it's wrong to kill wolves and trophy hunt because it's animal cruelty!!! Wolves should not be hunted for game, because they're not as dangerous as people say they are!!! And it sickens me that people think that killing animals for no reason is okay....because it's not!!!!!!!!!!
1,386 10:11 am PDT, Oct 10   Kayla Lowe not much United States Wolves are the upmost beautiful animal on the base of the earth! They deserve to live and thrive. Just as humans do! Some humans kill, so are we to start "thinning the population" of humans??
1,385 8:29 am PDT, Oct 8 Ms. Robin Robinson Massillon United States
1,384 12:14 pm PDT, Oct 3   Kurt Arensmeyer Wenatchee United States There is a saying, one plus century old, in Wyoming and Montana. Ya gotta fence the cattle out. Is it too much to ask these folks that are advocating the slaughter of wolves to live by their own creed?
1,383 4:46 pm PDT, Sep 28 Mr. Cody Brennam Marshfield United States
1,382 4:42 pm PDT, Sep 28 Ms. Jade Pray Missoula United States it is morally wrong to hunt wolves, killing an animal you don't plan on eating is murder

1,370 10:00 pm PDT, Aug 13 Mr. Ronald Tesar White Marsh United States The wolf is the "Mother" of all of todays domesticated dogs. Why would anyone want to kill for no good reason the mother of "Mans Best Friend ?"

1,362 1:05 pm PDT, Jul 17 Mr. stefan verboven aarschot Belgium
1,361 11:37 am PDT, Jul 17 Mrs. Karen Wilson Newport United States If you wuld take the time to study the wolf you would know that the wolf is needed to help balance the ecosystem. Also we could learn a lot from the wolf on how to raise a child... Maybe you should read my book: The Trophy: A wolf story
1,360 2:41 pm PDT, Jul 7   Anonymous Bruce United States Trophy killing and hunting is just not acceptable. High power rifles in the hands of any citizen is not safe. Why wear a seat belt if you are surrounded by high power rifles in hands of drunks and kids. Not to mention, we are in the wildlife territory, we invade them enough. Nature takes care of any overpopulation. Food is easy to buy. Hunting for the biggest bear or buck is sick. Also dangerous to humans and other pets. Unacceptable in this day and age. WE need to evolve.
1,359 2:09 pm PDT, Jul 4   greta malkotzoglou Athens Greece
1,358 3:56 pm PDT, Jul 2   nicholas schafer Woodland Hills United States God would not want us to destroy his creations that is the natural splendor of our world.

Stop Trophy Hunting & Wolf Slaughter

Wolves can be hunted on all hunts for no extra charge!

Wolves can be hunted with each hunt at no extra charge!

Rocky Mountain Adventures offers several costy hunting expeditions for the trophy hunter. From their pricing list, these are the animals which they will gladly guide you to the kill:

Wolves can be hunted on all hunts for no extra charge
Mountain Grizzly
Black Bear
Trophy Mountain Goat w/ Wolf
Trophy Canadian Moose w/ Wolf
Trophy Elk w/ Wolf
Deer, Mule Deer &/or Whitetail w/ Wolf
Combination Hunts
Primary Animal includes One Goat or Moose, Elk Black Bear, Deer, and Wolf
Canadian Timberwolf

The only purpose of these hunts is to further greed and ego by providing people a "trophy" for their stay in the pristine wilderness of which these animals are a vital part. Do you wish for the environment to remain a place of beauty and diversity? These animals will not always be a renewable resource, and with them gone, the environment which you claim to love so much will also be gone.

To quote your philosophy (from your website), "We love the outdoors! We enjoy hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking and especially hunting. Spending time with people who share these interests has become our life’s focus. We are professionals! We are grounded in an unyielding focus on high quality, integrity and respect — for our guests, our guides and the animals we pursue."

There is no integrity or respect in offering up the life of another creature to serve the ego of mankind. We, the supporters of this petition, make a call to put an end to this kind of senseless slaughter.
