Save Lives: Tell the President You Support His Actions to Reduce Gun Violence

  • recipient: President Barack Obama

After confronting years of Congressional inaction on the issue, President Barack Obama launched a 10-point executive action plan to stem the tide of gun violence in America.

From the big city streets of Chicago and Washington, DC, to small towns across the country, no community is immune to gun violence. Guns kill tens of thousands of Americans each year. In fact, more American lives have been lost to guns in America since 1968 than have been killed in all of the country's wars.

The vast majority of Americans support action to prevent mass shootings and other gun violence by promoting universal background checks to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals and improving access to mental health services.

Yet time and time again, Congress has refused to act, instead taking millions of dollars in political contributions from gun manufacturing lobbyists and squashing any effort to expand background checks. If lawmakers won't act to reduce gun violence, then President Obama must.

Sign this petition now and tell President Obama that you stand with him for common sense actions to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer.

President Obama:

As someone who cares about the safety of our communities, I support your executive actions to reduce gun violence.
