Help protect Martha and her family!

Her son is in prison, her life is in danger, but Martha continues to fight

Martha Solórzano is a human rights activist in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora state in Mexico. She denounces cases of power abuse, corruption and ill-treatment by the local police. This has made Martha and her family a target for regular threats.

Her son, Jorge, was falsely accused and arrested. His life is in danger while he remains in prison, because of his mother's work demanding justice for cases of police violence.

Martha does not give up! She organized a peaceful protest after a local boy needed hospitalization following a police beating. When identified as the organizer of the action, the police commander threatened to give her the same treatment as the injured boy if she filed any complaints regarding the case.

Martha and Jorge's safety remains at risk. Denouncing abuse is no reason for threats and intimidation. Sign the petition to guarantee protection for Martha and her family, and call for the investigation of cases of abuse committed by the local police.
Dear Minister Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong,

I write to demonstrate my concern with the case of human rights defender in the region of Sonora, Martha Solórzano, who denounces abuse cases by the local police of San Luis Río Colorado. Currently, Martha and her son are facing threats for their legitimate work in denouncing cases of power abuse, corruption and ill-treatment by the local police.

For this reason, I request the guarantee of Martha and her family's safety, as well as an exhaustive and impartial investigation of the threats and other acts of intimidation directed towards Martha and her family.
