Stop destroying trees on Bickerton Hill in Cheshire, we don't want a Bronze Age landscape, whatever

The National Trust, with the help of a grant of £325000 of taxpayers money, have reduced a beautiful landscape of heathland and woodland which provided a diverse mixed habitat for heathland and woodland wildlife to what they call their vision of a Bronze Age landscape, without trees, only heath. They have also destroyed the recreational amenity value of the site, which is enjoyed by thousands of visitors who come to enjoy its beauty and tranquillity, where they can feel 'alone with nature'
The site was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) only for the heath element of it, which is rare, and not for the woodland element which maybe not as rare, but is home to many birds and other wildlife and provides important amenity and landscape value to the site. Cheshire is one of the least wooded counties and any woodland is valuable. The National Trust feel that they can ignore the views of the public, who value the mixture of woodland and heath and simply remove the woodland and individual trees, because they were not included in the site's SSSI designation.
They have an arrogant disregard for public opinion and the only way to make them take it into account is to present them with this petition.
