Please sign and share this petition nationwide as we encourage the Washington State Department of Social Health Services along with other state and local organizations for the disabled to fund the Stanwood horse therapy ranch, which is crucial for the health and well-being of the many disabled people who have benefited from the interaction with the animals. Without funding, this facility will close down, leaving dozens of families without the much needed program.

In Stanwood, Washington, the nonprofit organization known as the Stanwood Therapeutic Riding facility is closing its doors due to lack of funding. They are known for pairing up disabled children with therapy animals; many of the children are told they will never stand on their own or walk. One of the children's doctors' stated that a magic seems to occur when you take that child out of the wheelchair and place it on the back of a horse.

There is something that seems to happen when sitting on a horse. The facility's owner and doctors say that they have seen proof that the therapy works, noting that some children were suddenly able to stand and walk. The problem now is that with new management, the Stanwood Therapeutic Riding facility has to move on from its present rental place. They need to find optimal land to continue its work with an outdoor arena and operate starting in April if the weather agrees. With the right funding and proper land, the organization would like to add a covered arena for winter programs. The organization has a facility to board the horses, it still needs to find land for the therapeutic riding.

Many parents of children with disabilities are looking for help in keeping this facility up and running, including the owners and operators of Stanwood Therapeutic Riding and are asking for your help by signing and sharing this petition on all media sites as we have our voices heard. Let's encourage the Washing State Department of Social and Health Services to work with other local and state organizations in finding the necessary resources that will keep this facility up and running.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services - State Department of Disabilities - The Stanwood Therapeutic Riding facility is in danger of closing down due to lack of funds, and this would be a critical move for those that rely on the benefits provided by these animals. You and other local, state and government organizations need to work together in order to provide this facility the funds and resources necessary to keep it running and continue to provide the crucial therapy its members and visitors gain from the therapeutic benefits of the horses. Many disabled children who may never have walked gained a new lease on life by sitting on the back of one of these horses. Do not let this facility shut down due to lack of funding. Help them to continue their work for the health and welfare of the disabled that look to them for hope!!
