Defend LGBT Olympians from Russian Anti-Gay Laws!

The Olympics are supposed to be a time to come together as a global community and celebrate diversity and athletic achievement. But thanks to draconian anti-LGBT laws recently passed in Russia, being gay -or even being "pro-gay"- can get you arrested there.

The egregious human rights violation has tragic implications for LGBT Russians and their allies. It also completely undermines the spirit of the Olympic games, and it puts any LGBT Olympians or advocates traveling to Sochi to compete in tremendous danger.

Olympic athletes should be worried about competing and representing their country, NOT if they'll end up in jail for who they love.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) must take a stand against this kind of human rights violation from an Olympic host nation.

Tell the IOC to publicly state its support for ALL athletes and forbid any attempts by Russia to violate the rights of LGBT Olympians!
To whom it may concern:

The Olympics are supposed to be a time to come together as a global community and celebrate diversity and athletic achievement. But the draconian anti-LGBT laws recently passed in Russia mean LGBT athletes have to worry not about competing and representing their country, but about whether they'll be arrested simply because of their sexual orientation.

This kind of human rights violation is absolutely unacceptable for an Olympic host nation. Please, publicly state your support for ALL athletes and forbid any attempts by Russia to violate the rights of LGBT Olympians!

Sincerely,
