President Obama has called for a clean energy future. But his State Department is rushing toward approval of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, which would boost oil company profits by transporting the world's dirtiest oil from Canada to Texas. The pipeline will drive more destruction of songbird habitat in the Boreal forest and threaten the drinking water of millions of Americans.
President Obama promised the American people a "robust review" of the pipeline, but his State Department has not delivered it. Instead, it has sided with the oil giants by refusing to study the real environmental and economic costs of this disaster-in-the-making.
It's time for President Obama to intervene and order Secretary of State Clinton to deliver the full review we were promised and reject a project that is not in our national interest.

Subject: Order your State Department to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline
Dear President Obama,
I have shared and supported your vision of a clean energy future for America. That's why I am so distressed that your State Department is rushing headlong toward approval of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, which could devastate the environment in both Canada and the United States. Tar sands development is laying waste to the great Boreal forest, obliterating migratory bird nesting grounds and spewing excessive global warming pollution. By transporting the world's dirtiest oil south to refineries in Texas, the Keystone XL will directly threaten drinking water supplies for millions of Americans while raising gas prices in the Midwest.
Your own EPA has called the State Department's latest review 'environmentally objectionable.' It's time for you to intervene and order Secretary Clinton to conduct the kind of 'robust review' of the pipeline that you yourself promised the American people. That review will make crystal clear that the pipeline is in the interests of oil companies but does NOT serve our national interest.
As we move toward a more sustainable future, there is no room for the dirtiest oil on the planet. Please direct your State Department to reject the Keystone XL pipeline and pursue clean energy alternatives instead.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
