Congress: Don't Let Home Visiting Program Funds Expire!

A successful federal program — the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program — is in trouble. Funding for this program expires at the end of March. If Congress doesn't act, vulnerable children will lose out on these services.

MIECHV provides at-risk kids and their families with high-quality home visiting programs. These programs improve prenatal care, birth outcomes, early childhood health and school readiness.

Send a message today to urge your members of Congress to continue funding for this vital program!
Subject: Extend funding for MIECHV

Dear [Decision maker],

MIECHV is a proven program based in every state, territory, and tribal organization as well as in the District of Columbia. The program supports evidence-based home visiting initiatives that provide information and support for parents struggling to meet their children's basic needs. MIECHV offers states flexibility to tailor their home visiting initiatives to best meet the needs of their residents and sets accountability requirements to ensure federal funding effectively supports families.

MIECHV improves prenatal care and birth outcomes, early childhood health and development, school readiness and parenting practices. The program positively changes the trajectory of the lives of the children and families it serves.

MIECHV is also a wise investment in taxpayer dollars as it helps families become more self-sufficient. Additionally, MIECHV can prevent poor birth outcomes, child abuse and neglect, childhood cognitive disabilities, and poor school readiness and academic achievement, saving tax dollars in the long run.

I urge you to prioritize investments in our youngest and most vulnerable citizens by extending funding for this critical program.
