Empower Mothers like Fatoumata

Fatoumata Monomata lives in Burkina Faso, one of the world's poorest countries. Ever since she was a child, Fatoumata knew that malaria was deadly — but she didn’t know how it was spread, prevented or treated. Now a mother, Fatoumata wants to protect her children... but she lives on just pennies a day.

Even in the face of such daunting odds, Fatoumata is determined to keep her family alive and healthy. All she needs is a chance.

Thanks to a Freedom from Hunger program focused on savings and education, Fatoumata learned how to keep her children well fed and healthy, protect them from malaria and support her family financially. With a small loan, she was able to purchase mosquito nets and begin investing in her family's future.

There are still millions of families like Fatoumata's around the world, struggling to stay afloat in the face of chronic hunger and poverty. In fact, over 3 billion people — nearly half the world’s population — are trying to survive on $2.50 or less per day.

Freedom from Hunger believes in empowering determined, hardworking women living in poverty with sustainable self-help solutions. Stand with these strong, courageous women today by pledging to help them lift their families out of chronic hunger and poverty.
