Tell State Senator Doug Ericksen: peaceful protest isn’t a crime

Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen is getting national media attention after he told reporters he'd work to label acts of legal peaceful protest "economic terrorism." If Senator Ericksen had his way, marching through public areas, blocking commerce, or "threatening jobs" could be considered felony crimes with long prison sentences and heavy fines.

The American Civil Liberties Union pointed out lunch counter sit-ins in the 1960s could very easily have been labeled "economic terrorism" under a law like this.

Senator Ericksen made his real motives clear when he said his aim was to target the non-profits and tribal nations standing up to proposed coal and oil projects in Washington state that threaten the public health and safety of our communities.

Don't let Doug Ericksen throw peaceful protestors in jail to protect his big oil and coal donors. Sign this petition to show we stand for our right to protest and won’t give in to his attacks.
