Prevent Surgical Animal Mutilation

In what has been hailed as a meaningless and cruel experiment, the University of New South Wales undertook the surgical mutilation of eight baboons in order to study their healing.
The outcome of this erroneous science project took the lives of all eight baboons, and has reawakened the campaign to remove mammals from experimental laboratories. With seven million animals used annually for experimentation in Australia, the largely self-regulated system must be redesigned immediately.
We need uniform, national guidelines to prevent more pointless animal maiming and death. Some sanctions have already been developed country-wide, but they have been left to the individual states for interpretation. More often than not, enforcement falls through the cracks.
Write to the Australian government and help ban animal experimentation.
Dear [Decision-Maker],
Animal experimentation guidelines cannot afford to be left to individual state interpretation. Without a higher standard to adhere to, thousands of animals are pointlessly mutilated every year in Australia in the name of "science."
Of the seven million animals tested a year, eight baboons were recently maimed by the University of New South Wales in an attempt to study healing habits. After the tendons in their shoulders were cut open and examined, all of the animals died. This is not what the field of natural discovery stands for—this is murder.
