Throughout Latin America, women have faced some of the strictest abortion laws in the world. Millions are forced to seek abortions from illegal and unsafe conditions, often resulting in severe health consequences or death.
Last year, Mexico City took a stand against this trend and passed a breakthrough legislation that decriminalized abortion and made health care and counseling more accessible for women. Since then, maternal mortality due to abortion has dropped significantly within the city, and more than 96.9 percent of the abortions have been performed without any complications.
Recently the anti-choice movement challenged this legislation, but thankfully Mexico City Supreme Court Justices voted to uphold the law and keep abortion legal! Sign the thank you letter to show your support of the Supreme Court Justices who stood by women and voted to keep abortion legal. Let Mexico City stand as an example for cities around the world!
