Where's the Straight Talk on Birth Control, Senator?

Target: Bob Schieffer, Debate Moderator
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
If you haven't watched this video, you really need to. Senator John McCain can't answer the question about different standards for insurance companies covering birth control and Viagra.

We can't let Sen. McCain get away with a non-answer on this important issue. He has a clear record of letting insurance companies cover Viagra but not birth control.

Will he stand by that record? Tens of millions of Americans tuning into the debate deserve to know. Urge debate moderator Bob Schieffer of CBS News to ask McCain about his record on birth control.

Dear Mr. Schieffer,

There are few issues affecting more Americans than access to birth control - 98 percent of American women use birth control at some point in their lives.

During this campaign, Sen. John McCain has ducked questions about his anti-contraception voting record. I hope you will help clarify for American voters where Sen. McCain stands by asking him simply:

"You have voted against requiring insurance companies to cover prescription birth control. Do you stand by that position and do you think it's fair for insurers to cover Viagra but not birth control?"

[Your comment here]

Americans deserve straight talk on this fundamental matter. Please ask this question and insist on a clear answer next Wednesday night.

Sincerely,

Mr McCain , we all know you are a male chauvinist and left your old wife for a younger prettier model that could afford to pave the way for your own dreams. We know you picked Sarah , not because she is smart or intelligent , but in your eyes she is pretty , until she opens her mouth. You won't be honest about your health issues, and yet to pave the way for this dumb lady to become president of America. GOD HELP US ALL. This email is to say, Shame on you , you think men have all the right to get thier jollies and fun no matter who pays, or how old and ill they are , but make women come up with thier own way to stay out of trouble. Shame on your standards !!! Shame on your priorities. Women need protection to save them from unwanted births.

Women have rights too. It's ok for men to be able to repair errectile difficiencies but women cannot protect their futures or the futures of the children that might be caught up on unplanned pregnancies.

I think it is a shame that many women, who are already not getting the pay they deserve, have to out of pocket pay for birth control. Why the heck are they covering Viagra? To me that is not an essential drug.

I'm 59 years old and I've grandfathered my self out... you'd be wise to do the same and refrain from leading our the country down the wrong road.

In order to decrease the demand for abortions, one would think that you would support birth control and oppose Viagra. Your apparent position seems a bit counter-productive.

I have no problems with a man recieving viagra to help his erectile disfunction but, If insurance companies are going to pay for viagra then why not birth control? after all, birth control helps with population control & helps some women with other health problems.

If he doesn't know anything about birth control, What else doesn't he know anything about. If he doesn't understand women or their rights he should not be in office

I think it is a disgrace that a man who is wanting to be our president can not answer a question like this.
