Suspend NFL Quarterback Michael Vick for Dogfighting!

Target: Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner
Sponsored by: Humane Society of the United States
Last week, a federal grand jury indicted NFL star quarterback Michael Vick and three cohorts on felony dogfighting charges.

The abuses described in the indictment are almost beyond belief, and include a report of Vick being consulted before the execution of the losing dog "by wetting the dog down with water and electrocuting the animal."

The indictment also describes "the execution of approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in "testing" sessions ... by methods including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick should be suspended from the NFL immediately!

The NFL expressed “disappointment” and said, “We believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts.” That’s just not good enough. The alleged acts were not petty or harmless; they were nothing short of gruesome and barbaric.

Sign the petition to the NFL today, and tell the league to suspend Michael Vick!

Dear NFL Commissioner Goodell,

Dogfighting is cruel and criminal, and football players must be held accountable like anyone else. Please suspend Vick immediately - anything less would reflect very badly on your judgment, and on the league.

His treatment of these animals was criminal and nobody that participates in criminal activities should be allowed to play on football teams that our young people look up to as "heros".

Someone who is ego oriented and feels that he can get away with anything because of fame, fortune, and lack of morals, because of fans, reflects on the owners, coaches, personal coaches, and the people who serve this ego maniac in the long run. Those who serve the wicked in heart, will, themselves become just as wicked or suffer the consequences of having participated in this evilness of man.

I own 2 pitbulls myself and i couldn't imagine seeing them in the shape of some of these pics of dogs Vick has faught. These actions are in-excusable. Just because someone makes alot of money doesn't mean they can buy their way out of any situation they choose. Adult choices and actions have consiquences. This yahoo is the reason why pitbulls have the wrongful bad name they do. Maybe someone should put Vick in the octagon with Chuck Lidell and tell him to fight for his life.

He is no role model. He puts no value on any life except his own!

He is sick. Our dogs are important part of our lives. He is not a very good example to young children.

The actions of Vick are sick and demented. I think most of the nation agrees with this and will NOT miss Vick if he never plays for the NFL again.

Commissioner. Suspension is not severe enough. I know it's all about money. But Vick committed the wrong crime. Athletes get busted for drugs, whatever. People will forgive and forget that stuff. But this is one tiny notch above child abuse or molestation as far as I am concerned. Hell, I can even understand robbing a bank. But this? This is just sick thrills and I'll tell you something. A lot of people love football, myself included. But we love our pets even more. A dog is "Man's best friend" right? As the focus on Vick manifests itself (and it will) on television programs, and pictures, not necessarily of Vick's dogs, but of others and of dog fighting in general become the subject of news and documentaries, average people are going to be shocked. And if you give Sick Vick a break on this.. well just consider what Vick is worth to football as one (star) player vs what people's reaction will be in terms of how this is handled, and what it will cost the entire sport. Is he worth it? On the other hand, if you make the right decision and can him forever, football as a whole will be respected and the payoff ($$$) will be much greater than Vick in his entire career could ever bring to the game. Do you really want a nation of animal lovers turning against you and your sport? Nike did the right thing, not right away but they got the message and TERMINATED their contract with him. Now it is your turn to make a decision and be judged. Don't blow it.

Micheal Vick's actions are ethically objectionable and if it was joe blow off the street who was convicted of the same crime, there wouldn't be any question that that person will see jail time. Because Mr. Vick is a celebrity, there is the fear that he will be given a lesser punishment for a very serious crime. I have very little faith in the justice system left, and if he ends up with a conditional sentence or pleads guilty to lesser charges for a reduced sentence, that little faith will be completly shattered.

He HAS to suffer the consequences of his abhorrent actions...if not you are sending the rest of the dog fighting world the message..."It's OK to abuse dogs for fun and profit"...shame on us!

People who commit acts of violence with pre-meditation and intent should not be allowed to live luxury life styles (i.e. jobs making a lot of money) when their victims suffer inhumane treatment and corresponding trauma for the duration of their lives (animals included)that violent perpetrators will never experience. Furthermore, money gives people power that can and most likely will continued to be used to keepthe helpless and innocent..well helpless regardless of legal implications. Violence against defenceless animals is only the beginning of the cycle...the violence progresses to children, women, the elderly...and the list goes on. FIRE MICHAEL VICK FROM THE NFL!!!!!!

He is a horrible person for doing everything he did. He is no longer a good role model. It cannot just be looked over, or else it will happen again. By not suspending him, you are supporting him and what he did!

I am appalled at what Michael Vick has done. Not even with a life sentence it can be justified. I do hope that the NFL will not keep him around as doing so knowing what he has done is supporting his horrible actions.

Okay, what was he being charged for? "Abuse and mistreating animals." Oh! Last time I checked, animals are living, breathing creatures just like human beings. They feel pain like we do. They need to eat, have water, be protected from the weather, groomed, etc. The only difference is that they lack a tongue of speech. If Vick doesn't want to be hanged, electrocuted, or beaten to death, why on earth would he do it to another creature that is incapable of saying "OUCH"? Bottomline, what he did was insane, cruel, and the things he allowed himself to do should be done to him and ALL others who cause pain and grief to animals. It is not even about being an animal lover to have a conscious and morale. Mistreating anyone or 'anything' is an evil act and at that moment, that person does not have a heart. I have two dogs at home. One is a pit bull/lab mix. She is the sweetest thing yet. She has never bitten me and she is always happy to see me come home. If someone took her away and threw her into a dogfight just to pocket money, I would be pissed! And Vick should be pissed and embarrassed at the fact that he allowed himself to stoop so low. Vick should be banned from the NFL. He does not deserve to be praised as a person innocent minded people can look up to because he is all about throwing a ball and beating up animals on the sidelines!

It is sad, sick and disgusting that anyone could do this to a living creature in the name of entertainment. He should go to prison and be banned from the NFL. He said he made a mistake, no, this was not a mistake, this was well thought out and deliberate. This man should be removed from the public eye and get some serious help.

I think he should be suspended and should never be able to play in the nfl again even tho he was a wicket player and was my favorite but still that is so harsh and so mean what he did to those dogs and then people wonder why pitbulls bite and think there fighing dogs its because its people like him who make them that way i can not beleave he would do something like that and besides the fact if it was for the money he don't need it because he just signed a big contract with Nike at lest or over a 100 million dollars.. and one or two years in jail won't cut it he should be in there longer then that...

This is somebody who young children look up to.His disgusting actions are what he needs to be punished on.He makes millions of dollars and this is what he does for a hobby? It is the most horrible thing I've ever heard! Janet Jackson shows a breast and everyone is having a panic attack. What kind of message is it sending to people if this creature "Vic" is allowed to continue to play for the NFL?
