BREAK-UP MEDIA MONOPOLIES

Stop media consolidation and roll back monopolies. We have fewer independent voices in Television and Radio. It has the effect of freezing free speech and limiting access.
We, the people of the United States are losing access to information which is independent and local in origin with the continued monopolization of media markets by fewer and fewer corporations with multiple presence and monopolies in many smaller markets.

We are losing local community-based control of the media and this needs to be reversed rather than increased. ClearChannel and Viacom should not own the airwaves from Maine to California.

Freedom of speech requires freedom of press. Freedom of press requires open and diverse markets.

We want to roll back "deregulation" and break up media monopolies to allow for open and diverse media markets that reflect local interests.

Thank you.
