Tell Congress that Now is the Time to Fix our Broken Medicare System

Medicare's sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula has been broken for over 16 years. It continues to hurt physicians and patients by threatening payment cuts that impact a patient’s choice of physician and access to care.

Members of Congress have taken steps toward repealing this flawed formula and now the Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the cost to repeal the SGR to be about half of what it would have cost last year. Now is the time for Congress to be fiscally responsible and take action to eliminate this flawed formula.

Tell Congress to repeal the SGR and find long-term Medicare solutions!
Greetings,

I am writing to ask you to take action this year and repeal Medicare's sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. Please help America's seniors by providing a permanent solution that will fix Medicare now and preserve it for future generations as well.

Congress has been passing temporary patches to the Medicare sustainable growth rate since 2003. Members of Congress have taken steps toward repeal and now the Congressional Budget Office reports that the cost of SGR repeal is about half of what it was last year.

Medicare is an important issue to my family. By consistently passing temporary patches, Congress has now spent more than if they simply repealed the SGR once and for all. This is not fiscally responsible.

I urge you to FIX this problem by repealing the SGR this year. Congress must implement a more stable Medicare physician payment system that protects patients and creates stability for the physicians who care for them.

Thank you,
