Don't Deny Insurance Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions
Target:Presidential Candidates Sponsored by:Families USA
Currently many health insurance companies operate in a wild wild west of little or no rules or regulation - unfettered to cherry pick the healthiest and to deny coverage to those who need it the most.
How do insurance companies do this? They look for "pre-existing conditions" - then they can legally deny someone coverage because they have an imperfect bill of health. Insurers might also charge these individuals much higher premiums for their coverage.
Health insurance shouldn't be reserved only for the healthiest among us.
Make sure John McCain and Barack Obama get this message, and tell them they must include everyone in their plans for quality, affordable health care!
We signed the “Don't Deny Insurance Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions” petition!

I am a type 1 diabetic and have 3 children. My husband's company does not offer health insurance. I stay home with my children. The only coverage I can get is through the state of Indiana. It cost me $485 PER MONTH to insure only me. I have to pay an additional $330 per month to have my children and husband covered. We are barely getting by and have no savings, no retirement...nothing because we are paying so much out in premium every month. Not only do I have my premium, I have a $1500 deductible and then my plan is 80/20....this is so unfair. I have never been hospitalized because of my diabetes and I taken excellent care of myself but am penalized because I am diabetic.
Please help me.

If we lived in a first world country, we would have universal healthcare. We wouldn't have a corrupt and greedy system that bizarrely thinks that some people are entitled to health care while others aren't. Health care is for everyone.

I am willing to pay for health insurance, but I have "pre-existing" conditions and have been denied health insurance. I'm vunerable because what if my appendix bursts or I get hit by a car? If the worst should happen, I don't want to go bankrupt. And with statistics being that 1 out of every 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime...This is a disgrace in our country.

It isn't fair that the only entity benefiting from health insurance are the insurance companies. People who have genuine health issues (pre-existing conditions) are left without any coverage for the very reason they need the insurance. Some of them even go bankrupt just because they are ill. What does America need to proud of - letting people die because they can't give them healthcare? That's nothing to be proud of. Cover ALL CITIZENS equally. Don't let the insurance companies pick and choose. Someone has to be accountable.

It is abonimable that the US is allowing insurance, pharmacy & healthcare companies dictate what is best for the people leaving many of us with inadequate or no healthcare, or at the worst bankrupt or dead. A government backed/run plan would allow our corporations & private companies to compete more effectively in the local & world markets. Forcing companies to employ staff, engage consultants or contract associates to negotiate & run healthcare benefits for their employees is not the most efficient or economical use of resources.

You had better think, "What would Jesus do?", since both candidates claim a relationship to Him.

I currently have no health care and can't afford it. I am also a single mother. I am in good health with no pre-existing conditions and still can't afford it. If anything should happen to me, my three children would suffer the most.

With having Addison's and other autoimmune diseases, I can't get insurance. I am on medicaid and can't find a doctor who'll take it. I am going to die and leave my children. I am scared. Please help us who are truly ill to get the care we need and make it easier for the doctors to do what is needed.
