Introduce Resolution of Proper Care Showing Pitbulls Are No More Dangerous than Other Dogs

The Pitbull is indeed the most misunderstood dog that gets a bad rap and horrific reputation, which is most frequently due to improper training, care and lack of responsibility.  PETA stands by their position that they believe in the happiness of this most-targeted breed and the option to treat them as dogs instead of objects for fighting, alarm systems, punching bags and other brutal treatment.

The belief is that any dog, of any breed should be spayed or neutered as a means to reduce the population of dogs with so many ending up homeless, abused and often in over-crowded shelters.  Although all dogs require the same laws and care, it appears that the Pitbulls are often singled out by legislators due to the reputation of human attacks, animal encounters and horrific cruelty cases.  PETA knows all too well how frequently and mercilessly this breed of dog is abused.  They are the most common victim of heartbreaking abuse and severe neglect.  Because of these constant cases in the news, it is the dog that gets the bad rap. Read the horrific news at http://www.peta.org/blog/peta-position-pit-bulls/.

The pitbull has the reputation of being aggressive but studies and research shows they are no more aggressive than many other breeds, and their behavior is often reflective of their environment, ownership and care.  The American Temperament Test Society evaluates breeds of dogs annually with evidence that any dog known to be high risk are often handled by individuals that are themselves high-risk, which could contribute to the breed’s reputation.

The Pitbull can live happily alongside other animals and children.  We are hoping to put the bad reputation of this breed to rest by asking for laws that require a resolution in the proper care required for this breed of dog that will show they are not any more dangerous than other dogs.  This is a high-energy dog that needs special training and care, producing a very happy, very lovable pet.  Our effort is to encourage the U. S. Congress to stipulate that anyone who takes on the responsibility as a pitbull owner must follow a nationwide mandate for a resolution stating that, with proper care, pit bulls are no more dangerous than other dogs. You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition and help this breed of dog once and for all.

U. S. Congress – The pitbull breed of dog is one of the most victimized and abused canines among all others and so frequently their horrific reputation is due to uneducated, ignorant and often abusive owners.  However, there are others who know firsthand that the pitbull can and does make an amazing and loving pet, even in homes with other pets and children.  The reality of the breed is that it is high-energy and requires more extensive care to meet its needs and ensure it never gets bored.  The typical owner does not realize these specific needs which can lead to abuse, neglect and offensive behavior on the part of the dog.  As a result of the constant abusive cases, dog fights, neglect and cruelty in the news, the breed as a whole is judged to be aggressive and unworthy, which is not true.  We are asking that you stipulate that anyone who takes on the responsibility as a pitbull owner must follow a nationwide mandate for a resolution stating that, with proper care, pit bulls are no more dangerous than other dogs. Put such a resolution into law in favor of that breed of dog that is so often targeted as the most abused animal nationwide, even worldwide.
