The purpose of this campaign is to call for the Colombian President to act immediately to provide a solution to the deterioration of the human rights situation in Colombia. In particular, we request that he act to end the suffering which is affecting the lives of aprox. 600 innocent children who have already experienced a horrific situation.

Dear Mr President
We wish to express our concern for the increased human rights violations and lack of respect for life displayed by the Armed groups in Colombia. We welcome your efforts in peace talks with the FARC, however the ELN should be included and the illegal paramilitary AUC forces must be dismantled. We denounce the recent murders of political leaders Octavio Sarmiento from Arauca, Manuel Segundo Ruiz from the "frente politico y social" of Monteria, Narciso Ruiz from the "Bloque social alternativo" del Cauca, Antonio Enrique Meza from the "Atlantico University workers coop, and the nun and human rights activist Yolanda Ceron from Tumaco. All of the above murders were commited by the Paramilitary death squads during the present month! In particular We want your immediate action regarding the horrible situation of the displaced children of La Reliquia in Villavicencio, Meta. These children are displaced victims of the massacres that took place in Mapiripan, Puerto Alvira, Arauca, Vichada and the Sur de Bolivar. These massacres have caused not only their forced exile from their families but also psychological and physical damage.
On top of this, their teacher and director of the Heder Enciso School was assasinated in front of these children last August 19 in the middle of a communal bingo game, the only purpose of which was to collect funds for the improvised school in which the children studied.
Mr President you are a father yourself please act immediately to end the suffering of these children and the millions who are homeless, fatherless and landless as a result of this war.
