End the Sending of Sexual Messages to Children

  • by: NSPCC

The UK has some crazy laws. Did you know it’s currently illegal to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances, or wear a suit of armour in Parliament?

Yet incredibly, it’s not illegal for an adult to send a sexual message to a child.

We need your help to change this flaw in the law.

The law hasn't kept up with technology and the way abusers are using the internet to facilitate the abuse of children. The NSPCC is calling for a clear new offence that would always make it illegal for an adult to intentionally send a child a sexual message.

Over 70% of people believe it’s already illegal for an adult to send a sexual message to a child, but shockingly it’s not.

Now is our opportunity to change this. The Government is currently passing the Serious Crime Bill, where there is an opportunity to make this illegal once and for all for an adult to send a sexual message to a child.

Help us to protect children across the UK by signing the petition to change the flaw in the law and end the sending of sexual messages to children.
To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to support the NSPCC in calling for a clear new offence that would always make it illegal for an adult to intentionally send a child a sexual message.

I want to make sure it is always illegal for all for an adult to send a sexual message to a child.
