Don't Let North Carolina Become a Garbage Dump!

Help stop a bill in the North Carolina state legislature that could make North Carolina a dumping ground for other states' trash. North Carolina is known for its many beautiful natural treasures from the mountains to the coast, don't let it become known as the east coast trash dump.

Senate Bill 328 (S328), would radically weaken existing standards for new landfills in North Carolina, would eliminate protective boundaries from wetlands and streams near landfills, and would allow landfills to be located very close to National Wildlife Refuges, state and national parks, and other sensitive areas. S328 could mean North Carolina will see mega-landfills filled with out of state trash filling up across the state.

Please send a message to your state legislator and the Governor and urge them to oppose Senate Bill 328 today!
Dear Decision-Maker,

Please oppose Senate Bill 328. This bill is a step backwards and could turn North Carolina from a destination state into a destination for other states’ trash. S328 rolls back existing protections from leaking and poorly placed landfills. Even worse, S328 could make North Carolina a dumping ground for out of state trash. We need to keep our strong standards in place, especially for our neighbors and communities which live near landfills.

I urge you to oppose Senate Bill 328.
