Join Us In Preventing Summer Learning Loss In At-Risk Youth

Most kids lose about two months' worth of math and reading skills over the summer. Expanded learning programs can prevent that, but at-risk kids lack access to these opportunities, causing them to fall behind their peers. Over the years, this learning loss adds up, endangering their chances for high school graduation.

Summer educational enrichment programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of America are a smart, easy way to help an at-risk child retain critical thinking skills and increase their chances for academic success.

Summer Brain Gain is just one example of a fun and engaging Boys & Girls Club program designed to prevent learning loss. It features 17 modules of themed activities that help students in grades 1–12 develop critical problem-solving and creative-thinking skills. In 2013, the program was tested in more than 200 Clubs with great success. Overall, participants did not lose reading or math skills, and some experienced significant gains.
