A dog was abducted from its family home in Melbourne, Australia and used as bait in a dog fighting ring.

Alfie, a kelpie-Labrador cross, went missing from his home for 24 hours - it is believed the dog had been stolen from the back garden in broad daylight.

However, Alfie managed to escape the hands of his abductors and miraculously made his way home with horrific injuries, including 10cm-deep and 20cm-long gash which came within millimetres of his jugular artery.

A rope was still tied around his back leg and there were chain marks around his neck.

When the dog’s owner found Alfie outside the family home – she rushed him to the vet where he underwent emergency surgery and a blood transfusion. The vet believed Alfie had been attacked by a much larger dog.

Police say an unknown woman was seen leaving the home and getting into a car on the day of the dog’s disappearance.

Police must conduct a thorough investigation to find and prosecute those responsible to ensure justice for Alphie and that no other dog suffers the same fate – or worse. Please sign and share the petition.
