Clean Waters for River Otters

Dirty, polluted waters are no place for a family of river otters to play and raise their pups.

Right now, river otters are in danger — Supreme Court rulings are making it unclear whether the Clean Water Act applies to streams, wetlands, and other kinds of waters.

If we don't act, those waterways could end up choked with filthy pollution, killing river otters and other animals who live there.

The EPA has proposed a new rule that would keep those waters clean. But to get the rule passed, we need to put pressure on them now. Sign the letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and help protect river otters!
Dear EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy,

Our wetlands, lakes, and streams provide essential and economically valuable services, including flood protection and control, surface water filtration, groundwater recharge, and support for economic activity that depends on clean water and healthy populations of fish and wildlife. River otters in particular are in danger when our wetlands and streams become polluted and are destroyed.

I applaud the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for using peer-reviewed scientific studies to document how wetlands and headwater streams impact the integrity of our rivers, lakes, and bays. Furthermore, I strongly support the Obama Administration relying on science to inform and advance a transparent rule-making process to protect these streams and wetlands.
