Justice for Trayvon Martin: Repeal Florida's "Stand Your Ground" Law!

Trayvon Martin, a 17-year old black boy, was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida because Zimmerman thought Trayvon looked "suspicious." Instead of being arrested and prosecuted, Zimmerman is walking free after murdering an unarmed boy who went to the store for a pack of candy.

Although this situation seems unbelievable, Florida's law has made it a reality for Trayvon's grieving family. The police have not yet arrested Zimmerman because of Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. This law is so broad that it will justify any type of aggressive action if the person simply argues that it was made in self-defense. There needs to be no proof that the person was legitimately in danger. And this is not the first time someone has been acquitted of murder charges under this law.

The "Stand Your Ground" law is clearly doing nothing to aid the safety of Florida residents. Demand that Florida lawmakers repeal the useless and harmful "Stand Your Ground" law!
Dear Florida Legislator,

The "Stand Your Ground" law that protects people who claim self-defense must be repealed immediately. As the law stands right now, it is entirely too broad to do any type of good. It is just helping people commit atrocities and get away with them.

And in the case of Trayvon Martin, the law has gone too far. Trayvon was just a kid, going to his neighborhood store to get some candy and he was murdered by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman for looking "suspicious". This is outrageous.

George Zimmerman has not even been arrested because he may be protected under this law. I urge to repeal the "Stand Your Ground" law before another innocent person is murdered.
