Nosotros los abajo firmantes rogamos que la crueldad hacia los animales sea incorporada en el Código Penal español. España va muy por detrás de otras naciones de la Unión Europea en lo que respecta al trato que sea da a los animales, seres que poseen un sistema nervioso central por el cual sienten y sufren como los humanos y por lo tanto son nuestros prójimos.
Los casos de extrema crueldad hacia los animales se dan cada día en todo el territorio español y consideramos imprescindible que, unida a una educación de respeto y compasión por esos seres indefensos existan los instrumentos legales para castigar a los culpables de torturas y asesinatos de animales con penas de cárcel para poder cambiar a mentalidad de las personas en su trato hacia los animales.
We, the undersigned, request that cruelty to animals be incorporated in the Spanish penal code. Spain goes well behind other EU nations in the way it contemplates animals, creatures that posses a nervous central system and feel pain just as humans do and are, therefore, our fellow beings.
The cases of extreme cruelty to animals happen daily all over the Spanish territory. We feel it is vital that, together with an education that teaches respect and compassion for those helpless creatures the legal instruments exist with which to punish the animal torturers and killers with jail sentences in order to change the mentality of the people in the way they treat animals.
