On March 9th, 2011, 173 peaceful protesters in Tahrir Square were arrested and tortured after military police and civilian men attacked and destroyed their camp.
Demonstrators recount terrible stories of violence and abuse after they were dragged from the Square and into a nearby museum. Protesters were beaten with iron bars and clubs and shocked with stun guns while the women were forced to strip and submit to a "virginity exam".
Although some were released, activists in Egypt say that over 100 civilian demonstrators are still awaiting a military trial with no access to their families or a lawyer. Those who are sentenced will not have the option to repeal their case or have any contact with the outside world.
We can't let this horrific violence in response to peaceful protests continue. Join us in asking the military in Egypt to stop the violence against peaceful protesters and free those that are still held captive.

I disagree with the use of violence in response to peaceful protests and I urge you to push for the immediate end to this tactic as well as the release of the citizens arrested following the events in Tahrir Square.
