Tell Congress: The U.S. Does Not Torture!

The CIA Torture Report released last year was downright horrifying.

Waterboarding, beatings, sleep deprivation, sensory overload, and rectal feedings were among the atrocities committed by American agents. And we all remember the photos from Abu Ghraib: prisoners were stripped naked and completely humiliated—all at the hands of American soldiers.

While many of us were shocked and horrified at these events, CIA officials and the architects of the torture policies defended these atrocious acts, deeming them necessary in the name of national security and counterterrorism efforts.

This is not the America we believe in.

The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is determined to put an end to torture and help survivors recover from their trauma. Through training, advocacy, and healing services, we provide comprehensive physical and mental healing for survivors of torture. CVT also advocates for torture survivors, and we urge our leaders to put an end to torture by enforcing strict bans, laws, and punishment for using torture methods.

Please join us as we stand against torture and tell our politicians that torture is never justified—not in the name of national security, counterterrorism, or any other circumstance.

Take action and tell Congress to take a stand against torture. Our leaders must sign a torture ban into law and ensure that our government never participates in such abhorrent acts again.
