The attempt to renew and augment the expired federal "assault weapons ban", HR 1022, will not be tolerated.
This is NOT the cosmetic bill from the Clinton era and does NOT include
a sunset expiration, this one DOES ban many more guns, not just
features, going so far as to ban WWII era rifles such as the M1 Garand
and semi-automatic shotguns. Do your homework, learn about the details and contact your representative, act locally, raise awareness.

| 44,318 | 2:18 pm PDT, Oct 11 | Carlos Ramos | 55 | Male | California | 90504 | Honorable Senator Feinstein; I wish to broach the unconstitutionality of De Leons bill AB 362 and similar bills with you. Have we taken into consideration the number of new crimes that this Assemblyman De Leon with bill AB 362 - at the whim of a young man who barely made it past high school - has created? His comment regarding "ammunition and spray paint" - two unrelated items caught my attention and I wonder how it is anyone with their minds on the Constitution and Bill of Rights can either pen this, or vote in favor of such nonsense. Senator Feinstein, we have e-conversed for a good while now - May I trouble you by asking is this the type of nonsense that California is about? This and its related bills are clearly obstructionist bills, their design limiting of ones freedoms, of ones interests and more sadly, of ones rights. I realize that it may be exhilarating to pen a law bill, see it pass and experience an adrenaline rush. But when this sense of power recedes, the work wrought has actually brought persons harm - through limitations, through obstructionist politics - rather than referendum - and create new potential crimes where none existed. That to me Diane, is sick and speaks negatively of Mr De Leons lack of stature and disconnection with America and Californians! I do not think that this is what you are about nor what you will for Californians. I know you dislike guns but then do you also dislike my having freedom? Because should we return to the fascist Clinton gun bans each which were found to be unconstitutional, this is exactly where California has reached - I dislike using this word very much -- fascism. You dont like guns but use or used one yourself. I know that you personally carry a firearm or did. This is so because at one time you and your family I believe, were threatened. Welcome to America!! Though a threat is verbal. On the other hand, assaulted - past tense - is having been mauled, beaten, punched, kicked and mashed with heavy cinder blocks. That is different and THAT Senator, is my experience and where other than in the city of Stepford clean and neat Pasadena CA of all places!! It is our right as citizens to protect ourselves especially now, when personal safety relative to homeland defense and against terror is such a bright issue. There is a film I watch - 'Stalingrad' the German version where two officers face one another - one is on hard labor duty for having objected to his orders, and the other of course is in charge. They are friends and bump into one another - "Otto!!" "Franz!!" a very short happy reunion is spoiled by an argument about Otto having warned Franz about the dangers of Hitler. "Otto Im not NAZI" then, the part that kills me because they were obviously close friends at one time follows - "Nein Franz, you are worse - you officers, I warned you about this crazed man and you went along with it full well knowing - No you are worse."" WOW!! and Ouch!!! this is a powerful scene and matches today's California and the dangers of an Obama let loose in our White House. My point Senator Feinstein is we are all or can be friends, but when some loftily play with the rights, liberties and freedoms of others whom we do not know as if we are justified, well, we open a huge Pandora's box. I think that this box is wide open these days. Compound this with our little young wet behind the ears, no substance kid Obama and California has a real dangerous situation - these horrible restrictions I see in the form these law bills only reinforce and thicken the air against liberty. Diane, "I am not a gun nut." Neither am I a single issue Republican. But Senator, obstruct or restrict or limit ONE of my rights and I will guarantee that several other of my rights will follow in suit. I and those who possess the same values as do I will not allow this to happen! Here follows the nonsense AB 362, as introduced by High schooler De Leon. Ammunition. Existing law generally regulates the sale of ammunition. This bill would require that commencing July 1, 2008, unless specifically excluded, no person shall sell or transfer more than 50 rounds of handgun ammunition in any month unless they are registered as a handgun ammunition vendor, as defined. The bill would also require these vendors to obtain a background clearance for those employees who would handle ammunition in the course and scope of their employment. The bill would require the Department of Justice to maintain a registry of registered handgun ammunition vendors, as specified. Violation of these provisions, as specified, would be a misdemeanor. The bill would also provide that no retail seller of ammunition shall sell, offer for sale, or display for sale, any handgun ammunition in a manner that allows that ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without the assistance of the retailer or employee thereof. Violation of these provisions would be punishable as an infraction with a fine of $500, or as a misdemeanor. The bill would further provide that no ammunition or reloaded ammunition may be delivered by a common or contract carrier pursuant to a retail transaction unless certain conditions exist. A violation of these provisions would be punishable as a misdemeanor, with enhancements for prior violations. What is with this guy? I do not like what I read and his "contact me" restricted my even reaching him because I am not his constituent. Can you imagine the hubris of a 2 year Assemblyman whose claim to fame is that he made it out of high school? I'll bet if his gym coach got a hold of him, he'd whack him a few times to knock some sense and decency into him. I am from Texas Diane and in Texas, we settled our misunderstandings refereed by the Vice Principal and with Boxing gloves - best man winning. California politicians do not seem to even want to enter the ring with me -- In spite of the fact that USC is a high crime area, there is less crime in general in California than De Leon paints his scenery with. People do not like crime but I certainly dislike bills that limit purchasing as well as selling rights. What happened to free enterprise Diane? Why not place limits on McDonalds or Burger Chef Double or Triple cheese burgers? Those are killing the black community at a more steady rate than are bullets! Ammunition and spray paint? Silly! One can buy as many beers as one wishes too, but the relationship between paint and ammo is irrelevant. What is relevant is that DeLeons bills are arbitrary, unschooled, obstructions of Freedom, Un-American, Leftist fascist and in its demeanor, obviously a premeditated focused attack upon Second Amendment related rights. No other issue receives the amount of angry opposition as do those that are related to self protection. I pray that DeLeon experiences that which I did - not simply the threat - to wake him up to the truth that protection and personal safety are viable issues. Last I appeal to you to lift all the bans, limits and obstructions regarding guns and ammunition in California and instead support Californians who understand their Second Amendment Rights and are also law abiding and contributing Americans. The time to stop discriminating against a certain breed owing to their willingness to come to the aid of their country, their state, their families and friends in times of grave danger and conflict must stop. We have done nothing except make owning and operating firearms scientific, civilized, artful, respectable and less dangerous through several hand gun or fire arms training programs - Ask the Pasadena Detective Department - I stopped a break-in/ burglary in progress with the aid of my firearm as it was occurring by a three time felon on two paroles committing his forth felony - and via the law had him sent back to prison. I thought to kill him -- but I did not kill the guy as I also thought to spare his life and not risk hitting the young girl I knew to be sleeping thirty feet away in the next house. Please with the help of your cohorts in DC stop picking on gun owners and their rights, we are undeserving of AB 362 type legislation and similar bills and their costs to our economy. I bid you well and ask you write me honestly and directly. Thank you Senator Feinstein in advance for your future support. Cordially; Carlos Ramos |

I will listen attentively and politely for ten minutes, inform them that they are still utterly wrong and advise them that I, and all those of like mind with me, will do everything in our power to ensure that their dreams of a disarmed American populace never come to fruition, and we will work tirelessly to remove them from any position of power or influence. It would also be nice to have those who are in public office or in the various government bureaucracies indicted and tried for treason by reason of their willful refusal to abide by their oaths of office to "protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic". And O yes, I almost forgot: George Soros and his cronies must submit to the same conditions while living openly in the most crime-ridden section of D.C., sharing a house with Charles Schumer, and sans cars and taxicabs. |

What is used by a mugger is a knife like the one who attacked me in Brooklyn. I once made a "collar" catching a mugger with a weapon in his hand and before I was able to finish the paper work at central booking in Queens 112 pct the mutt was already out on bail. Banning weapons based merely on "How They Look" or by the "Number Of Rounds" their magazines hold does nothing to stop criminals from acquiring them. Further, it does nothing to stop those criminals from committing crimes with weapons not banned by the AWB. Criminals will be criminals. We need more effective Law Enforcement followed by less lenient judges to ensure prosecuted criminals think twice before breaking the law. |

By restricting ownership rights, law-abiding, American citizens are penalized while felons remain unaffected. Criminals will still obtain firearms regardless of a weapon's legality status because of the fundamental principle that defines a criminal. Criminals do not choose to follow laws. Banning any weapon does not automatically make that weapon unobtainable. Legalities only restrict those that choose to follow the law. |

No to HR 1022, "Assault Weapons Ban"
We the undersigned wish to express in no uncertain terms our outrage and disgust with the introduction of HR 1022: To reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes. Let it be known, that we the undersigned swear an undying devotion to end the political careers of any public servant holding office who should dare to offer any support to this offense to our birthright to take up arms to defend our lives, our families, our property, our community and our country against enemies both foreign and domestic. We see it as absolutely essential that we retain our right, which is not granted to us by man nor able to be repealed, to maintain, keep, bear and train with firearms and ammunitions that are state of the art. HR 1022, or any bill resembling, is an affront to this right and our dignity as citizens of this fair nation and will not be tolerated. We are watching.
