Spare Sapelo Island, a historic slave community, from a 500% property tax increase

Sapelo Island is a historic Geechee community off the coast of Georgia. Residents are currently being forced out of their homes due to a 500% property tax increase.  The Gullah/Geechee people were one of the very few slave communities able to maintain some of the West African culture brought here, and they ought to be given the status of a historic and protected class of people.
