I am not a lawyer, but I have always believed that the First Amendment means that the government can not use its powers to enforce religious rules. It took quite a few centuries to get this to actually work. I am old enough to remember when it was illegal to mow your lawn on Sunday. If women who belong to certain religious sects don't want abortions that is OK. But the government should not impose any law on those that do not.

No one is "pro-abortion". No one wants MORE abortion. Being pro-choice means respecting a person's right to decide on their treatment, and working to reduce the need for abortion.
