Tell Obama to Keep Protecting Reproductive Choice

Target: Barack Obama, President
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
President Obama needs to know pro-choice Americans' priorities. We elected him because millions of people came together and got more involved than they ever had before. Let's keep it up! We need the same kind of enthusiasm and activity to promote a pro-choice agenda.

Sign the petition letter urging President Obama to support commonsense policies to prevent unintended pregnancy, improve women's health and protect women's access to abortion care.

Dear President Obama,

You have been a champion for privacy and reproductive freedom and a longtime friend to the pro-choice community. As you set the agenda for your new administration, I ask you to continue to uphold the values of freedom and privacy.

Please also:
1. Invest in prevention programs that reduce the need for abortion;
2. Protect women's access to abortion care;
3. Support healthy pregnancies;
4. Reclaim America's global leadership on reproductive health; and
5. Appoint judges who are highly qualified and committed to individual rights.

Bring us out of the dark ages and into the light. Help us catch up to the rest of the nations who have better ratings than we do. Don't let the religious beliefs of some keep us all in the dark.

ALOT OF THESE PEOPLE ARE MAKING THESE STUPID CHOICES OF "ACCIDENTLY" GETTING PREGNANT DUE TO NO MONEY OR NO INSURANCE TO GET THE BIRTHCONTROL AND WE HAVE SUCH A HIGH TEEN RATE OF PREGNANCIES DUE TO THE NONEXISTENCE OF ONE OR BOTH PARENTS DUE TO EITHER HAVING TO BE AT WORK AND NOT INVOLVED WITH THIER CHILDREN OR JUST NOT IN THE PICTURE AT ALL. WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE A WANT TO NOT POINT FINGERS BUT TO HELP ONE ANOTHER BY EDUCATING EACHOTHER FOR A BETTER LIFE. PARENTS NEED TO BE INVOLVED. I KNOW IF MINE WERE I WOULD HAVE NEVER HAD A CHILD AT 17. I ALSO THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE ENTERED INTO A SYSTEM AND AFTER YOUR SECOND ABORTION THEY SHOULD MANDATORLY TIE YOUR TUBES!!! BECAUSE IF YOU OBVIOSLY COULDNT LEARN FROM THE FIRST TWO TIMES TO WEAR A CONDOM OR USE BIRTHCONTROL I NEED SAY NO MORE!!! YOU PROBABLY AINT GANA LEARN THE THIRD FOURTH AND SO ON...WE ARE HERE TO LEARN NOT TO CONSTINTLY KEEP MAKING THE SAME OLD MISTAKES. THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT.

Education in prevention, family planning, and abortion can reduce poverty, young women trapped in economic impoverishment with children, trans-generational welfare, homeless abandoned children, abuse, neglect, and underachievement in schools. Prevention is critical to curb over-population, especially among impoverished, who cannot afford additional children, emotionally, logistically, and financially. Help all who cannot help themselves. Having worked in ghettos, you must be well aware of the circumstances unwanted children are subject to and live in. Please prevent more ghettos, more teenage prostitution, more drug and alcohol abuse with prevention, mass education, and available, accessible supplies supporting youth to be responsible sexually. America has 5x the teen pregnancy rate of other industrialized nations. It's time we were responsible.

Women should always have a choice with what to do with their bodies, I implore you to give them the power to make that choice, whatever it may be.

This is a decision no one WANTS to make...it is a hard decision ad decision for the woman and her doctor only to make...please...give the choice each individual woman to make the right decision whichever way she chooses...it has to be her choice!

The time is now to support a woman's right to control her body and her right to birth control and to choose to have an abortion. The religious right has held our nation hostage long enough. You must act to protect the women of this nation and women of the world.

I grew up in the 60's when it was wrong to be pregnant outside of marriage. I know many women who couldn't, for GOOD reasons, continue their pregnancies. and had resort to "BACK ALLIES AND BUTCTHERS" That left them to die, due to complications, or destroyed them so that they could never become pregnant again. I had an abortion when I was 21, just after the Roe and Wade decision. I was single, the man was married. He told me it was my problem. I was kicked out of my apartment, my church asked to leave and my family turned their backs on me. I had two choices, MY LIFE OR MY UNBORNED CHILD. There were no services for women at that time. I have had live with this choice for the rest of life. I know that women rights need to be protected. WE CANNOT GO BACK TO THE 'DARK AGES". We women, have to keep our rights to make our own choices for our lives. Perventive and counciling progams are necesssary. These services inform and offer support in helping women in making life healthier choices. PLEASE HELP OTHER WOMEN, I PRAY NO ONE HAS TO GO HROUGH WHAT I AND OTHERS HAD TO.

In the current 'atmosphere' of our culture, abortion is castigated as an unmitigated horror, regardless of the circumstances faced by the mother. There ARE worse things, and laws have never stopped women from seeking to end a pregnancy that threatened their future. Keep reproductive choice available!

I am now 71 years old. Fortunately I never needed to have an abortion, but when I was young I knew that I would not hesitate to do so, if faced with this difficult decision. I want the information and excellent health care to be available for today's young women.
