Alaska's oceans and fisheries are among the healthiest in the U.S., which
unfortunately doesn't set a very high standard; some populations are
showing signs of imminent collapse. Many species in Alaskan waters,
such as steller sea lions, harbor seals, and a number of seabirds are
facing serious declines.
Industrial fishing is responsible for much of the damage.
For the first time in over 20 years, the public can comment on
the effects of industrial fishing on the North Pacific ecosystem.
NMFS recently released for public comment its environmental impact
statement (EIS) of North Pacific groundfish fisheries.
The draft EIS is fundamentally flawed, and we are asking NMFS to adopt our
"Oceans Alternative", which incorporates ecosystem based management policies
into fishery ecosystem plans and sustains fisheries for the long term.
Sign below to support the "Ocean's Alternative" to improve U.S. fisheries
management to benefit both the fishermen and the fish:
We signed the “Protect Steller Sea Lions & Other Marine Life!” petition!

Driving Alaskan wildlife to extinction doesn't help anybody. Adding more species to the long long long long long long long long long list of species we already have driven to extinction doesn't help anybody.
Especially them. Keep that list as short as possible in every way you can. Try starting here.

Until the public becomes informed on all the great disadvantages of eating animals for food, I am only asking that you make it a little safer for us and a little better for the animals. It won't be long before you will be out of business; the public is catching on... http://www.goveg.com/feat/enviro.html http://www.brucefriedrich.org/

A Native American Proverb that goes something like this "We have not inherited the earth from our ancesters we are only borrowing it form our children" is what we need to think about. Soon a generation is going to know nothing about wildlife but what they read in books.
