The Texas State University student body has been made aware of several screenshots involving Corbin Cornwell, the Senator of the Texas State Student Government, that contain the use of homophobic, racist, and divisive language towards a Texas State student.
Though accused, Mr. Cornwell denies creating the images containing both direct threats of violence and racial insensitivity. However, he has openly admitted to the belligerent use of homophobic slurs and showed a great deal of negligence when addressing the death of a Texas State student.
In acknowledging this gross misconduct, we the Texas State student body call for either the resignation or removal of Mr. Cornwell from his elected position. The language used in the messages from Mr. Cornwell do not coincide with the moralistic values of Texas State University, and he has proven to be incapable of appropriately representing not only our University, but our ENTIRE student body as well.
We, the student body, will not tolerate such egregious behavior from an elected official, and neither should Texas State Officials.
