Support Proper Identification of the Gifted and Grouping Strategies

We support better identification of gifted children and grouping strategies to support differentiation.
We, the parents of CHCCS, support the proper identification of intellectually gifted children based on the child's potential, not just on their current academic knowledge. We want better testing for all children of all races to pick up those who are gifted but have not been exposed yet to academic material. This may involve IQ testing. For under-served minorities, we support MANDATORY Raven's testing to help better identify them. We also support the clustering of highly gifted children so that they can be challenged at their readiness level, and we support ability grouping within classrooms and across the grade. We want written guidelines for principals on what constitutes appropriate grouping strategies across the grade, especially for math.
