I am working to encourage Missouri to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry

It is sad that more measures are not being taken to protect those without a voice like defenseless animals and the effort is to take action and have voices heard on their behalf.  One crucial tool that would provide animals the protection they need is to implement an animal cruelty registry database.

Missouri has some history of animal abuse throughout the state but not only is there minimal protection for the animals, punishments are not as stringent as they should to fit the crimes and offenses against defenseless creatures. Please read more information on animal issues at http://asci.uvm.edu/equine/law/cruelty/mo_cruel.htm.  The state recognizes that animal abuse and cruelty is an important issue. The hope is that as a I work state-by-state in the protection of animals, Missouri will follow suit in implementing an animal cruelty registry that is strictly enforced.

Such a proposed animal cruelty registry would and should be similar in stature to that of a sex offenders and child abusers registry with severe implications.  Anyone who has committed any form of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect would be required to be on the database, with all pertinent personal information. The information therein must be undated on a regular basis with all offenders remaining listed for life.  Furthermore, any abusers on the database need to be banned from ever again owning, caring for or working with animals.  Such stipulations may seem very stringent but it is the only way that we can stand up in the name of animals and give them the protection they need and deserve.

The effort of this petition is to urge Missouri State Legislators to implement the proposed animal cruelty registry database with full and strict enforcement.  You can help in this action by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments.  Be a voice for those who cannot speak out in their own defense.

Missouri State Legislators – I strongly urge you to take some immediate steps in protecting poor defenseless animals by creating an animal cruelty registry.  Such a proposed database would and should be similar in stature to that of a sex offenders and child abusers registry with severe implications.
