Investigate, prosecute and convict individual(s) responsible for pet slaughter in St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans
We are seeking a full investigation, prosecution, and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the slaughter of pets that belonged to the evacuees of Katrina. As the water rose, people forced to evacute without their animal companions, placed them in a temporary evacution shelter at the Beauregard Middle School in St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans. Heart-wrenching notes scrawled on the walls with their contact information were left in an effort to have their pets reunited with them.

In spite of this, upon returning home to their pets, they found them slaughtered, shot in the body cavity to ensure a slow, agonizing, and cruel death. These pets were forced to suffer a prolonged death. Some of these pets were service companions. The families lost everything including their pets.

Prior to the slaughter, on 9/9/05, the Dallas News aired a story featuring the concurrent shooting of dogs in the street by a St. Bernard Sheriff's Officer. The original, documented story can be seen at http://www.dallasnews.com/s/dws/photography/2005/katrina_video/straydogs.html.

We want the individual(s) responsible for this slaughter investigated, prosecuted, and convicted to the fullest extent of the law.
