Stop putting pets in aircraft cargo holds!

Simon the giant rabbit recently took a flight that proved deadly.

Simon had been given a full bill of health at a check-up shortly before his trip. Just after landing, Simon was found dead. Simon is the most recent victim of cargo hold travel. Over 300 animals have died in the cargo holds of aircrafts since 2005. Many more have been injured or caused needless suffering. Some have even been lost entirely.

Travelling in the cabin holds mean nobody there to care for animals who are frightened or unwell. On some flights, it may mean temperature fluctuations.

These terrifying and risky trips need to stop. Please sign this petition to demand that UK airlines stop putting pets (companion animals) in the cargo hold of aircraft.

Airlines JetBlue and Southwest have shown how easy it is to do. Neither company allow pets to travel in the cargo hold, and provisions are made for safe travel in the passenger cabin. Now it's time for the UK to take the same step forwards.

Please sign this petition asking that the UK Department of Transport introduce legislation to stop flights from the UK taking pets in the hold. If enough of us sign, it will send a clear message that this outdated practice needs to end!

The Department of Transport:

It's time to end the risky practice of leaving unattended companion animals in aircraft cargo holds.

Over 300 animals have died since 2005 in cargo holds on aircraft. Many others have been injured or unceccesarily stressed. Some have even been lost.

The UK is a nation of animal lovers and we want legislation that reflects that. Please stop airlines from transporting companion animals in aircraft cargo holds.
