In 2006, the worst has happened: South Dakota has banned abortion.
What did the law do? South Dakota's criminal ban outlawed abortion in almost all cases and does not protect a woman in cases of rape or incest or even when her health is in danger. Doctors who violate the ban could face up to five years in prison.
The law was part of a larger anti-choice strategy to overturn Roe v. Wade altogether. To quote the South Dakota House Speaker Matthew Michels, "I think the stars are aligned." [Los Angeles Times, 2/25/06]

It is a woman's body. It should be our choice. the government should have no say at all about our choices. i was raped a few years back. I have lost myself doing this would make this fear worse. we should make choices for what is best for us, not what you think.

the government has no say in what a person does to their own body. nor can they say restrict or a person to have unwanted children. Nor should the government use religious reasons to reduce our inalienable rights to make our own choices, and that womens rights over their body are more important in which they have the final say.

Yes, abortion can be wrong but if a woman was raped then she should have the choice on whether or not she wants to keep the baby. Rape is a terrifying experience and keeping that baby will remind them everyday about what happened to them and they may treat the child wrongly. Also, it is the womans right and you shouldn't take rights away because this is supposed to be a free country, right?
