SOS (Save Our Stamford) Please save our historic beautiful street in the heart of Stamford

Stamford Is one of the most architecturally intact Georgian Towns in Lincolnshire, once hailed by the writer Sir Walter Scott as 'the most beautiful stone town in England' and in 2013 voted 'The Best Place to Live in Britain' by the Sunday Times, and the first place in England to be made into a Conservation Area.

A planning application to build a 5-storey office block within the architecturally sensitive medieval core of the residential conservation area has been submitted and sadly was passed, despite very strong opposition by Stamford Town Council, The Georgian Group, Stamford Civic Society, and the Residents.

The historic heart of Stamford is an architectural masterpiece that has survived amazingly intact, where other towns have long since been ruined through inappropriate, short-sighted development. At the end of the day, it is our privilege to be custodians of such a jewel, and we have a duty of care to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. Heritage must be at the centre of any new development.

Please help to Save Stamford's Conservation Area, do not allow the building of this office block!
