Stop the Silent War on Contraception

Target: Hillary Clinton, Senator
Sponsored by: Friends of Hillary Clinton
There's a quiet war going on in America – against the most basic rights of Americans, especially women, to make their own personal decisions about family planning.

It was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people.

They're waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress -- and so far, they're getting away with it.

The United States has one of the highest rates of unintended pregnancies in the industrialized world. And the impact of the war on contraception is borne by the poor: a poor woman is four times as likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy as a higher-income woman.

That's why Senator Hillary Clinton and Congresswoman Nita Lowey have introduced a Congressional Resolution to Strengthen Family Planning Services for Women - and they need your voice to make sure every member of Congress votes on this Resolution. Become a co-sponsor today and help us pass this important resolution to ensure women have access to contraceptives! Senator Clinton will forward your message to your Congressional representatives.

Hillary, you can add my voice to all the women and men who are supporting your defense of women's rights. And you can tell the Congress that I applaud your Resolution to Strengthen Family Planning Services for Women.

I'm troubled by the growing attacks on women's privacy and reproductive rights. And it's disturbing that women of low-income are being targeted, leaving many of them uninformed about their reproductive health options and unable to obtain affordable contraceptives.

This is really a war on contraception, and those who started it are increasing unwanted pregnancies and abortions in our country. We must stop their attacks on our ability to make our own decisions about family planning. I urge all Members of Congress to vote for your Resolution and to make it easy for women to obtain contraceptives and an understanding of their proper use.

Women have a right to choose. If the right is taken away then the integrity of the United States has a whole declines. It is important for the citizens, male and female alike, of the United States to take a stance for what is right.

Because we as women deserve the choice, the right,to have access to affordable, safe contraception. Some of us want to hold off on kids, some perhaps can't afford another mouth to feed, some just aren't ready, and motherhood for some is perhaps not what is wanted or what they can handle.I myself choose to not have kids, and if I want to prevent it,that should be my right. Also, the war against particular types of birth control can have a lasting, harmful impact on women's lives,as bad as or worse than it does for others. Some women of course need different types for other health reasons, such as treating an irregular period,or prevention of menstrual cycles due to a very strong severity of cramps, such as one woman who commented on a feminist website, that she had to have this particular type of birth control,or her cramps could be so severe as to cause her to become unconscious, another to have seizures.I strongly, firmly believe it is our right to make decisions about our bodies, our lives, and our health.
