KFC is the number one chicken mutilator in the world. Each year more than 850 million chickens are tortured and killed for the restaurant chain. What happens to chickens in the factory farms and slaughterhouses of KFC’s suppliers is the kind of stuff you’d expect to see in horror movies. Tens of thousands of birds are crammed into filthy sheds that reek from collected urine and feces and are given so little space that they can barely move or spread a wing their entire lives. Chickens are given growth-inducing drugs, causing them to become so top-heavy that their legs break and their hearts and lungs give out. They are often still conscious when their throats are slit and when they are dumped into tanks of scalding-hot water for feather removal. When they’re killed, chickens are still babies, not yet 2 months old.
KFC tortures chickens in ways that would result in felony cruelty to animal charges if cats and dogs were the victims, but KFC still refuses to make changes!! As the leader in the chicken industry, KFC has a responsibility to ensure that the chickens raised for its buckets are protected from the worst cruelties.
