Every day millions of animals are born into lives of unspeakable suffering. Every day millions more suffer terrible deaths. All animals should be able to live their lives free from misery.

But they struggle in a world that is often indifferent:
- The illegal and often inhumane trade in wildlife and wildlife parts is a soaring black market worth $10 billion a year.
- An estimated eighty percent of the world’s cats and dogs are unwanted and suffer from hunger, disease, neglect and persecution as pests.
- Animal cruelty is shockingly prevalent around the world, even in countries like the U.S. with strong legal penalties.
The road toward better animal welfare is through cooperation, information and a strong international commitment. Urge the United Nations to adopt a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare! The declaration would have a real, long-term impact on the welfare of billions of animals worldwide.

i believe that amimals were given a right to live just like us as amaericas; or as human . God created life, not to destroy . Cats , Dogs , & any animal or person shouldnt live there life as a threat . We shouldnt use them for our own selfishness . They deserve so much better then what they get .

Animals are mis-treated, neglected and abused every day by their owners who will think of any excuse to say they are only doing what they can. Animals are as much a citizen in this city as you and myself and they deserve to be treated as such. They have feelings: both physical and emotional. They feel pain, just as you and I. Think of how you would feel if you were treated like some animals. Look into their beautiful eyes and see that they are almost always willing to forgive, if given the chance. I am a loving pet owner and I think it is horrible for any animal to be mis-treated the way that they have been. I am one of the many people who think of animals as people, and it's not too late for you to start.

It's disgusting. Utterly disgusting. Animals have just as many feelings as humans, and abuse hurts. It isn't just the pain they feel at the time, it's the fact somebody that was supposed to LOVE them betrayed their trust. When an animal is abused they still want to love their owner, and the animal feels that he or she is in the wrong and tries to love and appologise to the abuser. How can anyone sit back and let this happen, let alone physically do it?

This is a cause that has been battling for recognition for decades. So many animals have been forced to suffer, many to die as a result of constant suffering, and nothing continues to be done about it. Turning your back won't make their suffering go away. Something has to be done and it has to be done NOW! Humans are not the only creatures put on GOD's earth to enjoy life. He created the animals for that same luxury as well. Yes, I say Luxury. Because an enjoyable life is so hard to acquire these days. PLEASE...take a stand. End animal cruelty once and for ALL!!!

Its not right that animals are being killed and tortured like this. How would you feel if it was your animal, an animal that became part of your family and you loved them.

Because the global situation is alarmingly backwards when it comes to animals. If we think about it, humans are animals, we evolved from them, so why not use them in the same way we use other animals? We don't because it's slave labour and plain oppression. Oh wait... we still do that, sweatshops, child labour... but that's a different argument. Let's just concentrate on the one issue for the minute, shall we? Animals need SOME legal recognition of their existence. Only you can do that, mate.

Billions of animals around the world are affected by humans, and rely on people to treat them with compassion. But sadly, in many countries there is little national and no international protection for animals. An international agreement on welfare standards should become a key goal for the animal welfare movement in the 21st century. The first step toward achieving this end would be to secure a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations. A Universal Declaration by the UN would: - Recognize animals as sentient beings, capable of suffering and experiencing pain - Recognize that animal welfare is an issue of importance as a part of the social development of nations - Act as a catalyst for better animal welfare provisions worldwide By supporting a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations, you can help put a stop to the cruelty that billions of animals suffer every single day. Animal do not deserve to be put through crulity. Animal has feeling they just don't have the voice. That is why people like me and the many other people that have send the petition and trying to get the word out, are raising our voices for them. Animals are loving creatures that are not on this earth for our purposes only, if everything on this earth was made for use then why did God put bugs and things that are no use for us?....I think the Government needs to raise their voice and speak up for the animals! |
