Outraged Over High Gas Prices?

Target: George W. Bush, President
Sponsored by: Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
As the five-year war in Iraq rages on and big oil companies report record profits in 2007 - with Exxon Mobil earning a staggering $40.6 billion - Americans are feeling pain at the gas pump. Families are facing real hardships as they struggle to make ends meet in a slowing economy - with rising prices for gas and home heating oil. George W. Bush needs to be reminded that his administration's approach to managing our national economy affects us all! Send a petition letter to voice your outrage. When you sign, add the cost of gas in your area to receive an online map pin. Your pin will appear on the DCCC's Pain At The Pump map along with thousands of other people's pins. Note: If you don't see your pin on the map at http://dccc.org/page/s/rrn just yet, please check back in a few days.

Dear Mr. President,

As a concerned U.S. citizen, I am writing you to voice my outrage at the burden high gasoline prices place on hard-working Americans.

While many American families struggle to make ends meet or even avoid home foreclosure in a slowing economy, consider the following:

- Gas prices are averaging around $3.13 a gallon; up 75 cents from one year ago. And experts say gas prices nationwide could approach $4.00 a gallon.

- Home heating oil costs have tripled for American families since 2001.

- The big five oil companies recently reported record profits in 2007, with Exxon Mobil earning $40.6 billion - the largest corporate profit in American history.

- More than 4,000 Americans have been killed and 30,000 wounded in the war in Iraq. This six-year conflict has already cost the nation's taxpayers more than half a trillion dollars.
