Hive infested with Small Hive Beetle

The Small Hive Beetle is native to Africa. It has been discovered widespread in Europe recently. This beetle is able to completely overwhelm a honey bee colony and results in a situation similar to a dead animal completely infested with maggots. It kills bees, it ruins the honey and the honey comb. In a small country like Scotland this disease will completely destroy our honey bee population. We must act together now or lose an important pollinating insect, a marvellous food supplement and a source of important medical treatments. This disease is decimating honey bee colonies word wide - we need to stop it before it can reach Scotland.
