Build a Wildlife Conservation Agenda for the New Administration

Target: President Barack Obama
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

The Bush/Cheney Administration took its toll on our wildlife and wild places. After nearly a decade of assaults on our natural heritage, the newly elected Obama Administration has an opportunity to provide leadership to fix the damage done – and move forward to address the biggest threat to wildlife and wild places: global warming.

After eight years of disastrous policies, our wildlife and wild places deserve real leadership to preserve America's natural heritage. Sign the petition to urge President Obama to act to restore America's leadership in wildlife conservation!

Dear President Obama:

For the last eight years, our natural heritage has been under attack. The voices of extraction, extinction and exploitation have overwhelmed those calling for the protection and recovery of wildlife and wild places. Our most important environmental safeguards like the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act have been underfunded and undermined. And science has been manipulated and suppressed for political gain.

Much of the damage of the last eight years will not be easily undone, but I'm calling on you, as our new President, to:

1. Promise to end the political manipulation of science
2. Promise to responsibly manage America's federal lands
3. Promise to safeguard America's rarest plants and wildlife
4. Promise to make America a leader in addressing global warming and its impacts
We signed the “Build a Wildlife Conservation Agenda for the New Administration” petition!
