5 Dogs Found Dead on Their Chains
To The Honorable Tim Madison-Piedmont Judicial Circuit D.A.,Gene Hart-Chairman of Banks County Board of Commissioners,Sheriff Chapman-Banks County Sheriff's Office:
A Group of people have come across a case where PETA was contacted by residents of Banks County, GA regarding 5 dogs, who allegedly belonged to Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Randall Morgan- dead on their chains on Mr. Morgan's Property in Banks County. There have been photographs provided showing these poor dogs wearing collars with Morgan's name on them yet Deputy Morgan claims that he was somehow set up by feuding relatives which even the county government have called "the most absurd thing we've ever heard."
The Banks County Sheriff has been contacted several times by various members of the outraged residents who live in that area of Georgia as well as animal rescue and animal rights organizations but refuses to return any phonecalls to get further information about this case. It would seem that from the Sheriff's office obvious lack of wanting to follow up on this case they would like to sweep it under the rug; maybe because the victims were dogs rather than humans or perhaps because the accused is a Deputy Sheriff in that county; either way it is very wrong and shows a bad lapse in judgment from the Sheriff's part. We feel as most people do across this country that lawmen have to be put under the same laws and procedures as civilians IF not more so because lawmen are supposed to uphold the laws and keep communities safe. Now whether these are dogs or people, it should NOT matter either way; if these were truly Deputy Morgan's dogs then actions need to be taken against him as would be done against anyone else.
Many caring and loving animal folks are kindly asking you to look further into this matter and take the proper actions to see that something is done regarding the absolutely disgusting treatment of these dogs. A proper investigation needs to be placed under way to determine how these dogs came to die in such atrocious conditions as well as if finding the Deputy to be guilty of causing the deaths of these 5 dogs, a full trial needs to be put underway to show to Deputy Morgan as well as everyone else that such treatment of a living being by a civilian or police officer will NOT be tolerated and if they are guilty of such actions proper punishment will be handed out to them.
Thank you,
a concerned citizen for the welfare of animals
