Petition for A Democratic Resolution
A growing trend in the United States today, and even in the state of Texas, is the strident displeasure of one of laws oldest, most debated and barbaric practices, Capital punishment.
As the years go by and we begin to see how capriciously this ultimate punishment is applied with an almost callous disregard for innocence and justice, we have no choice but to question ourselves and our stance on the matter. The only conclusion we, as socially conscious, compassionate and understanding, we human beings can die for is that in it's current scheme Capital Punishment must be abolished.
Therefor we, the undersigned, being citizens of a Democratic Nation humbly petition for a Democratic resolve. We feel this is an issue too important to be deemed by our elected officials alone. The disparateness of our wishes and others along with all the encompassing political agendas involved, demand us time for both pro and opponents of the ultimate punishment campaign and address society, and have a general vote on the matter, Capital Punishment,Yay or Nay. It is we of society affected most by this issue, it's time to make this choice for ourselves.
