Peaches are mushy inside, grapes so huge now, some avocados are gigantic (out of porportion! I feel they are irradiating fresh produce, I TOTALLY RESENT THIS! NO LABELING NEAR OR ON PRODUCE! But I can tell things are NOT RIGHT> No amount of your insisting it is OK and BETTER will never convince me that it is You do not fool with mother nature! You can't fool the majority of the people either. I know what radiation does to people, so don't do it to our food! INSANE! The truth of the matter is I feel deceived from our Government. I don't know who to trust anymore. I have written all my Represenatives, and The good ol FDA-4 times complaining. I will have a bigger and better garden this year, and i will can my own foods. Product labeling is law, yet Monsanto and the like are slipping in whatever they choose (into our food), and because they can still call it corn or canola, they do not have to reveal anything else that has been put in there. It is bad enough that that the GMO has genes from another organism, but how about the practice of piggy-backing these genes on viruses and bacteria in order for them to break into the cell (of corn, etc.) in the first place? Cells repel foreign genetic material. The organisms that have learned to overcome this natual cell self defense are Viruses & bacteria. I do not wish to be consuming viruses & bacteria so I can have cheaper corn. I also oppose GMO's because of what the muscle-bound (money-bound) companies are doing to farmers. They are using coercive tactics to extract money ("royalties" & "penalties") from farmers who cannot afford the litigation against Monsanto et al. Sounds like extortion to me. |

The fact that an item is a GM food would make a huge impact on whether or not I buy the item or not. This should be reason enough to label those items. Sadly, it is also a reason to not label them for other parties. |

Genetically Modified Food Labeling laws
The European Union recently voted to require manufacture's to label products who use more than 0.5% of GMO's. I would like the United States to require the same labelling laws. The federal goverment and the biotech industries have assured me that GMO product is safe. That is not the issue. The issue is about choice. People should be given the choice and choices are based on information. Consistent labeling laws would help trade and be more cost efficent.
