Stop the Kinder Morgan Pipeline to Save Orcas

British Columbia’s Southern Resident Orcas have faced continual danger in the last century, and just when we thought they were safe, they face the largest threat yet – Kinder Morgan.

Southern Resident Orcas are a unique and iconic species that can be seen swimming up the coast each spring. Just three pods remain, including the family of 105-year-old Granny, who was the oldest known living orca on earth when she passed away this past winter.

The proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline project would spell disaster for these already endangered Orcas. If this project goes through, tanker traffic for tar sands oil will increase by 700%. Orcas use sonar to communicate and find food, so noise pollution from these tankers will have a devastating impact on Orcas' ability to eat and breed. Even taking away the known risks of oil -- spills during transport and climate change -- tanker traffic alone will wipe out the orcas within 50 years.

Kinder Morgan's pipeline is the last gasp of the oil and gas industry. We know their market is rapidly decreasing and our planet can't sustain more fossil fuel pollution. We shouldn't allow Orcas to become collateral damage in a dying industry's last ditch efforts to survive.

Tell Prime Minister Trudeau to reject Kind Morgan's pipeline and save Canada's Orca whales.
