A short drive north of the San Francisco Bay Area lies Berryessa Snow Mountain. Home to lush forests, meadows of wildflowers, majestic mountain landscapes, and crystal clear rivers, it is a fishing, hiking, camping, birding and horseback-riding paradise.
The region is filled with osprey, wild tule elk, river otters, the second largest population of California's wintering bald eagle populations, half of California's dragonfly species, and rainbows of butterflies -- making it one of the most biodiverse regions in the state.
However, a growing population and industry threaten the future of this region. Permanent protection of Berryessa Snow Mountain will ensure the preservation of this special place and will grow the local economy by bringing visitors and jobs to the region year-round.
Tell President Obama and Department of Interior Secretary Sally Jewell to designate Berryessa Snow Mountain as a national monument and protect it for future generations to enjoy!
